Surrounded with so much water mass, yet lacking clean water to for the people and polity is an issue tacked by ERD water prrogramme for the region.
A region that is suffused by water is inundated by lack of clean portable water and consequently exposed to health hazards. Nothing depletes the economy, like health epidemics. Nothing diminishes the resourcefulness of a people, like violations of their basic rights. Water is life and the greatest affirmation of the people’s Right to Life is the provision of clean water for all the local communities along the banks of the river Ethiope and Delta state in general.
Availability of clean water for the communities of the entire Niger Delta is paramount on our agenda and deserves the attention of all stakeholders
That is why ERD has partnered with providers of sustainable and renewable energy powered boreholes and collecting data on the challenges faced in accessing clean water.
ASSESS & DELIVER
Work Process
Physical visits to the communities for a thorough assessment of their needs. Households and population, accessibility, existing infrastructure etc. are just a subset of the data requirement.
Informed by the assessment and survey, the most efficient, cost effective, maintainable and highly available water borehole product and solution is selected.
A range of communities will be selected to pilot the borehole project and local community participation in the delivery of the project is integral to the implementation.
On successful deployment of a running pilot water project for a number of communities, the roll out of the water solutions can be scaled exponentially across other communities riding on a working playbook.
